Great Gazebo Designs for Your Backyard and Garden

Far from being just a romantic backdrop in a movie, gazebos can actually add a truly unique feel to your home and gardens. They can give your home an air of romance or intrigue.

They can welcome visitors with open arms or they can be a cozy place to hide from the world. Much like a house, gazebos have their own styles, and the many gazebo designs that are available mean that you will always be able to find a gazebo that will suit your landscape and your tastes.

Choosing a Location

The design you choose may be limited due to your terrain. Before you start looking at gazebos it is best to decide exactly where you want your gazebo to be. Remember that you will need a flat area for building purposes, so you may need to either build up the area or level it a bit before you construct you gazebo.

Or if it is not perfectly flat you will need to elevate it. Think of the old style of band stands.

It is often best to see if you can put your gazebo in a place where it flows with the natural curves of the land, making it seem as though it has always belonged where it is. You will also want to make sure that there are no buried wires or septic tanks underneath the land where you would like to build the gazebo.

Many Designs to Choose From

There are many different kinds of gazebo designs to choose from and here is a list with a brief description of four different styles.

Victorian Style – Victorian style gazebos are probably the most common. These are the kinds of gazebos that you remember from movies, where the hero and heroine would run to hide from the impending rainstorm. They are the perfect kind of gazebo to place on your land if you have a home that was built in the Victorian style, but they also have the advantage of being able to fit in with a home that is designed in just about any style.

Country Style – Country style gazebos are a bit different. These gazebos are not circularly shaped, like most gazebos are, but rather are often made to look like a little cottage. They are surrounded by glass and often have two doors that open wide to allow the breeze to come into the gazebo. Many homeowners originally built these as a way to escape from their daily life for awhile.

Shelter Style - If you want something that is simple and just for protection, then look for a gazebo that has no windows or seats. These gazebos are made to cover an area in your yard, most often an area that is either near the house or near a garden, for the specific purpose of being able to have shelter from inclement weather.

Exotic Styles - There are also exotic styles that you can choose from. These gazebo designs are based on the styles of another culture and can truly become a conversation piece, as well as the favorite place to sit, for any homeowner.

The large variety of gazebo designs that is available is truly astonishing, and it is so vast that any homeowner will be able to find a gazebo design to suit their home perfectly.
