How to Clean BBQ Grills
Everyone who owns a BBQ grill knows the
dirty truth about them - they collect dirt and grime like no other household
appliance you have ever had. The dirt they get also sticks to every crevice and
corner so that cleaning them is a messy affair. In either case, it really is no
fun to be cleaning your BBQ grills.
However, there is no getting away from it. Unless you want to live like a
slob and continue using your grill as it begins to develop other life-forms in
every nook and cranny or unless you are rich enough to buy a new BBQ grill every
month, you will have to face that grimy grill and wash it, whether its current
unwelcome residents would like you to or not.
When you are cleaning your grill, there are a few good tips that can make
your job much faster and easier, and hey, who doesn’t want the entire process to
be easier?
-
Before cleaning your grates, soften the dirt and
grime sticking to them letting them soak in a tub of warm, soapy water. Take
them in the house and let them soak in the sink if you like. After a while,
brush it clean with a wire brush, and many of the problem spots will shine
like they did when you brought it home from the store.
-
If
you are using a charcoal grill, brush out the insides really well. The
charcoal dust can build up, fly into your food, and make the tasty a little
chalky.
-
If you are using a gas grill, remove the lava
rocks, briquettes or the metal flame shield so you can get to the burner.
Then clean out the ash and the other residues around the corner. When you
are done, make sure you place the burner back on the grill correctly or your
food won’t cook well.
-
To clear the insides of your BBQ grill, use a
stiff wire brush and brush it gently with a bit of soapy water.
-
After cleaning totally, coat the inside surfaces
of the BBQ grill with cooking spray or oil. Include the grills in this
process. It will prevent the areas from being a nightmare to clean the next
time.
-
Before using the grill, let the cleaning residues
set for around 5 to 10 minutes.
These steps should help you get your grimy BBQ grill sparkling clean. Now
that you've got your BBQ grill all spic and span, remember also that a light
coat of cooking spray or oil every time you grill can make your next cleaning
session much easier and, to avoid having to scrub and brush for hours on end,
adopt a regular cleaning schedule of your BBQ grill.
