Fine quality awning material gives your house a quick and easy facelift.

Fabric awnings are making a big comeback. They’re great for providing shade from harsh sunlight on the deck or patio, while still allowing air to circulate, keeping you cool and comfortable on hot summer days. A good quality fabric awning will last for years, and will also extend the life of your outdoor furniture and deck surfaces by protecting them from sunlight.

What’s more, fabric awnings look absolutely fantastic. You have a huge range of awning materials to choose from, in a choice of natural or synthetic materials, in just about every color, texture and pattern you could possibly imagine. Your choice of awning material will have a big impact on the look of your house, in fact, you’re really giving your house a little facelift when you choose your fabric awnings.

Caring for your fabric awning.

These days, most high tech materials are easy to clean, highly resistant to fading and mildew, and with the right care, will last for many years to come. Normally, you will need to give the awnings a thorough clean once every two or three years, but you should also give the material a light rinse with a hose about once a month.

It’s also a good idea to spot clean bird droppings, insect stains and roof runoff stains as soon as they occur. Check the manufacturer’s cleaning instructions carefully before you clean your awning. Many materials are treated with agents to make them water and mildew resistant, and you risk cleaning these treatments away if you don’t clean the awning in the appropriate way. The awning manufacturer may recommend that you reapply these protective treatments every few years or so.
