A quick guide to getting the best out of your outdoor patio furniture. With a little care and attention, you can extend the life of your outdoor patio furnishings and furniture and keep it looking wonderful. Top tips to keep your patio furniture looking great.1. Shop for quality!Spending a little extra on your outdoor furniture will actually save you money in the long term, because quality furniture and furnishings will last longer. Choose furniture which has been specifically designed for outdoor use, and has been made with weather resistant materials which have been treated to prevent rotting and corrosion. Natural hardwoods such as teak are a great investment, because they’re exceptionally durable and they look magnificent. Genuine top grade teak, or “tectonis grandis” is far superior to “teak look” or “teak finish” materials, and will last virtually a lifetime. Look for furniture cushions which are quick drying, fade and stain resistant, and treated for resistance to mildew. 2. Store your patio furniture when it’s not in use.Your patio furniture will last years longer if you don’t leave it outdoors during the winter months when it’s not in use, or when you go on vacation. If you don’t have any storage space for your furniture indoors or in the basement of your home, you might consider investing in a small storage shed. Patio cushions and umbrellas should always be stored inside when you’re not using them, particularly when it’s raining or very windy. 3. Give your outdoor furniture a little love and care.Furniture made from natural wood will need to be restained regularly, as recommended by the manufacturer. Metal furniture may require an occasional anti-rust treatment, which is easy to obtain and apply. Keep your patio cushions clean and dry. Spot clean any stains immediately with a little soapy water.
